Halloween in the Sincerely offices!

Pirates, Skittles, and Kuatto (from Total Recall) were all in attendance at our Halloween/Sincerely Ship launch party last night. The Brothers Comatose performed, our own DJ ScottBot spun music, and our iPhone portraiture studio was always busy. You can see the full set of costumes from last night’s party here.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night! It was great to hang out with some of our Sincerely Ship partners, like I Am Awesome, Lonely Planet, and Waddle.

Welcoming Bijan Sabet to our team – Spark Capital leads Sincerely’s $3M series A

We’ve been working together for a few months now, but it is great to publicly welcome Bijan to our board. Bijan has helped scale some of the best startups over the past few years including Tumblr, Twitter & Foursquare. We’re looking forward to leaning on his experience as we build Sincerely into the great company we know it can be.

In addition to Spark Capital we’re excited to welcome several other great investors to our team including First Round Capital, Charles River Ventures, SV Angel and a myriad of awesome angel investors.

This capital allows us to plan for the future and offer a customer experience beyond our years.

We added our first users a short 7 months ago, yet in this time we’ve launched Postagram for iPhone & Android, Popbooth for iPhone and iPad and the Sincerely Ship Library for iPhone. Over the next months and years we’re looking forward to extending our existing services to more users in more countries around the world. We’re excited to offer delicious new products. And we’re excited to connect the Sincerely experience between our users.

There is much more to come from Sincerely and we’re excited to have the support of great investors as we work towards our vision of making the world’s best service for sending thoughtful gifts to the people you care about most.

Sincerely Ship & Quiption

Quiption is a clever new app that allows users to take their own photos and add artistic hand illustrated designs on top of them. I love the style of this app, which mixes humorous phrases with artistic design. Changing your formating by rotating your device is also a great idea.

Quiption is a free app that uses our Sincerely Ship Library to allow users to send postcards of their final image. Get the app from the iTunes store here.

The new photo sharing option: Print & Ship

Every photo app has sharing options. Usually they consist of posting to Facebook, sharing on Twitter and sending by email.  Today, the Sincerely Print & Ship button becomes the new photo sharing option.

Today we are announcing 12 launch partners for our Sincerely Ship iOS library. Users of these applications will be able to start sharing their photos a new way: by sending real physical photos in the mail.

The Ship library makes it easy for any developer to add “print & ship” functionality to their app. A developer need only pass the Ship Library an image and Sincerely takes over: turning that photo into a real printed postcard that is sent anywhere in the world. Also, unlike other sharing options, print & ship pays developers cash money – we have a revenue sharing agreement with all of our partners.

Users of existing Sincerely products, like Postagram & Popbooth, will be able to login to their same Sincerely account within each of these partner applications.

Our great launch partners include: Lonley Planet, Pic Collage, Color Effects, and 9 other apps listed below. We are very excited to have such amazing apps showcasing the Ship library. And we’re appreciative of the feedback and support each of these launch partners have provided our team.

Over the next few months we are going to highlight these great partners as well as add many more to the mix. Interested developers can sign-up for the Ship Library here.

The Sincerest form of flattery

Today Apple just announced Cards – a new app that will allow users to create and send real physical cards from their iphone. Sound familiar?

It wasn’t completely unexpected that Apple could do this some day. They already offer a similar service within iPhoto. And yet even then, they still don’t dominate the market. They are also far from offering the best experience.

Why? Because this isn’t what Apple does. This is what we do. Apple is in the hardware and operating system business. We are in the gifting business. Sincerely’s goal as a company is to make it easy for our users to send simple, thoughtful gifts from their mobile phone.

To that end, this announcement from Apple only serves to add further focus to our mission at Sincerely and additional focus on our users.

We want to hear from you our users. How can we make Postagram better? What can we offer in future products and future Sincerely services that will enable you to wow your friends and family with thoughtfulness?

And to our developers on the Sincerely Ship platform? How can we make Ship better? How can we better enable you to offer an amazing digital to real world gifting experience within your products?

We are easy to reach. Contact us at anytime at team@sincerely.com or on twitter @sincerely

We will have a little announcement of our own in a few weeks, which we are looking forward to sharing with you. Keep an eye out for much more to come from the Sincerely Squad.

p.s. while writing this post I got a phone call from a tech reporter who wanted my thoughts on the Apple announcement. One minute into that discussion my iPhone dropped the called. If anyone from Apple is reading this 1. thanks for noticing our team’s superb work on Postagram 2. please don’t lose focus on making sure my phone functions as a phone.
